First Snow

Our first taste of winter arrived with a couple of inches of snow. Always a let down after all the news hype about the “worst storm of the season.” Being the first snow of the season does qualify as the worst, I suppose. White is always so much nicer than the grey, cold rain that is typical of winter in Kentucky. Some winters this is as much as we see all year. Every now and then, though, a heavy storm will move through and leave several inches which is actually a lovely break from the winter rain. Christmas approaches but a white one is very rare despite what all the Christmas songs would have you believe.

Late Fall in Kentucky

Today was a lovely day even though the most colorful trees have lost most of their leaves. Spring and fall in Kentucky are especially beautiful. As winter sets in it tends to be grey and often rainy, not so pleasant. So days like today in mid November are bonuses and need to be enjoyed to the fullest.

Wow! That was fun.

So glad to be home!!

Had a wonderful vacation, a Christmas gift from the boys. Venice was truly amazing, then 11 days on the five masted sailing ship the Royal Clipper with ports of call in Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Sicily, Capri, ending up in Rome. Rome was wonderful, beautiful, chaotic and reeking of history.
